Ingredients

1 large flatbread (store-bought or homemade)

1 medium ripe pear, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (plus some for garnish)

1 round (8 oz) Brie cheese

1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)

2 tablespoons honey

1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

Balsamic glaze for drizzling

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Caramelize the Pears: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir until it begins to bubble. Add the sliced pear and thyme. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the pears are soft and caramelized. Remove from heat.

Prepare the Flatbread: Arrange the flatbread on a baking sheet. If you like, you can lightly brush it with a bit of olive oil for extra flavor.

Add the Cheese: Slice the Brie cheese in half horizontally (optional). Place the Brie in the center of the flatbread. If using mozzarella, sprinkle it evenly around the Brie.

Top with Pears: Evenly distribute the caramelized pears over the Brie. Make sure to include some of the caramel sauce from the skillet for added sweetness.

Season and Bake: Sprinkle the flatbread with freshly cracked black pepper and a pinch of salt. Place it in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the flatbread is crispy and the Brie is melting.

Drizzle and Serve: Remove from the oven and drizzle honey on top. Add a balsamic glaze drizzle for an extra zing, and garnish with fresh thyme leaves.

Slice and Enjoy: Allow to cool slightly before slicing into pieces. Serve warm as an appetizer or a light meal.
