Ingredients

1 cup pumpkin puree (canned or fresh)

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon cloves

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

1-2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Optional: Extra cinnamon for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a donut pan or use a silicone donut mold.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, applesauce, vegetable oil, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk together until smooth and creamy.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Fill the Donut Pan: Use a piping bag or a ziplock bag with the corner cut off to fill each cavity of the donut pan about 2/3 full with the batter.

Bake the Donuts: Place the filled donut pan into the oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Prepare the Glaze: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with 1 tablespoon of milk. Stir until you reach a smooth consistency. If the glaze is too thick, add more milk, a teaspoon at a time.

Glaze the Donuts: Once the donuts are completely cooled, dip the tops in the glaze and let the excess drip off. If desired, sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on top for added flavor.

Serve & Enjoy: Allow the glaze to set for a few minutes, then enjoy your delicious baked pumpkin spice donuts with a cup of coffee or tea!
