Ingredients

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

3 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, minced

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the beef and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes while you prep other ingredients.

Prepare the Broccoli: If using fresh broccoli, blanch it in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until bright green and tender but still crisp. Drain and immerse in ice water to halt cooking. If using frozen, simply thaw thoroughly.

Cook the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the marinated beef in a single layer and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until browned and cooked to your desired doneness. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and ginger, stirring quickly for 20-30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn.

Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and toss with the garlic and ginger combination, cooking for 1-2 minutes. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, pouring in the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Stir everything together for about 2 additional minutes until heated through.

Serve: Transfer the beef and broccoli stir-fry to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions and a drizzle of soy sauce if desired. Serve hot over cooked jasmine rice or noodles.
