Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast

1 cup whole milk, warmed

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1/2 tsp salt

For the Filling:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (about 6-8 slices)

1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1/4 cup bourbon

For the Maple Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

3-4 tbsp maple syrup

1-2 tbsp milk (as needed for consistency)

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Dough:

    - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, sugar, and instant yeast.

      - In another bowl, combine the warmed milk, melted butter, eggs, and salt. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.

        - Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.

          - Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

            - Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

              Make the Filling:

                - While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing the softened butter, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, crumbled bacon, pecans, and bourbon in a bowl until well combined.

                  Roll Out the Dough:

                    - Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 16x12 inches.

                      Assemble the Rolls:

                        - Evenly spread the filling mixture over the rolled-out dough. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log.

                          - Cut the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

                            - Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

                              Bake the Rolls:

                                - Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

                                  Make the Maple Glaze:

                                    - While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the milk for desired drizzle thickness.

                                      Glaze and Serve:

                                        - Once the rolls are done baking, let them cool for about 10 minutes before drizzling with the maple glaze. Serve warm and enjoy this sweet and savory treat!
