Ingredients

1 cup fresh broccoli florets, chopped

1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

6 large eggs

1 cup milk (whole or 2%)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter

Optional: ½ cup diced bell peppers or cooked bacon pieces for extra flavor

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Prepare the Broccoli: Steam the broccoli florets in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until they become bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside to cool.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Combine Everything: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, stirring until just combined. Add in the olive oil or melted butter and mix until incorporated.

Fold in the Extras: Carefully fold in the steamed broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, and any optional ingredients like diced bell peppers or bacon.

Pour into Baking Dish: Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.

Cool and Cut: Let the egg bake cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes. Use a knife to gently loosen the edges, then cut into squares and serve warm.

Enjoy: These Cheddar Broccoli Egg Bake Squares can be served for breakfast, brunch, or as a snack any time of the day!
