Ingredients

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon baking powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup buttermilk (or milk with a splash of vinegar)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 tablespoon chocolate chips (optional)

1 tablespoon powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a small muffin tin with two cupcake liners or grease using non-stick spray.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar until well-combined.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, combine the buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until blended.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey kick.

Fill Cupcake Liners: Divide the batter evenly between the two cupcake liners, filling them about 2/3 full.

Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool Down: Once baked, remove the cupcakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Dust with Powdered Sugar: Once the cupcakes are cool, you may dust them with powdered sugar for an elegant finish, if desired.

Serve and Enjoy: Indulge in your delicious, rich chocolate cupcakes designed for two!
