Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

4 slices of ham (Swiss or Black Forest)

4 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup breadcrumbs (Panko preferred for extra crunch)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper, to taste

½ cup melted butter

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.

Prepare the Chicken: Place one chicken breast between two sheets of plastic wrap. Use a meat mallet or rolling pin to gently pound the chicken to an even thickness, about ½ inch thick. Repeat with the remaining chicken breasts.

Assemble the Cordon Bleu: Lay out each flattened chicken breast and season both sides with salt and pepper.

        - Place 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.

          - Carefully roll the chicken tightly, starting from one end to the other, and secure each roll with toothpicks or kitchen twine.

Breading Station: Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour (seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika), one with the beaten eggs, and the last with breadcrumbs.

              Coat the Chicken:

                - Roll each chicken bundle in flour, ensuring it's coated evenly.

                  - Dip it in the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off.

                    - Finally, coat it thoroughly with breadcrumbs.

Prepare for Baking: Place the breaded chicken rolls seam-side down in the greased baking dish. Drizzle melted butter over the top to enhance flavor and help achieve a golden crust.

Bake the Cordon Bleu: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through, and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). The outside should be golden brown and crispy.

Serve: Carefully remove the toothpicks or twine from the chicken rolls. Slice into medallions if desired, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
