For the Vanilla Cake:

2 ½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup (170g) unsalted butter, softened

1 ¾ cups (350g) granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 cup (240ml) whole milk

For the Frosting:

1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened

4 cups (480g) powdered sugar

¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup (90g) mini chocolate chips, for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Cookie Dough Layer:

    - In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

      - In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

        - Add the vanilla extract and milk, mixing well. Gradually add in the flour mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

          - Press the cookie dough into an 8-inch round cake pan lined with parchment paper. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the vanilla cake.

            Bake the Vanilla Cake:

              - Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

                - In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

                  - In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by vanilla extract.

                    - Gradually combine the dry mixture with the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.

                      - Divide batter evenly between two 9-inch round cake pans lined with parchment paper.

                        - Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

                          Assemble the Cake:

                            - Once baked, allow the cake layers to cool for about 10 minutes in the pans before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

                              - Place one layer of vanilla cake on a serving plate. Gently remove the chilled cookie dough layer from the pan and place on top of the first cake layer.

                                - Add the second layer of vanilla cake on top of the cookie dough layer.

                                  Make the Frosting:

                                    - In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until well combined.

                                      - Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, then beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.

                                        Frost the Cake:

                                          - Use the frosting to cover the top and sides of the layered cake. Smoothen it out for a beautiful finish.

                                            - Garnish the top with mini chocolate chips for added texture and sweetness.

                                              Serve and Enjoy!

                                                - Slice the cake into generous portions and enjoy the indulgent layers of cake and cookie dough!
