Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

¾ cup warm water (about 110°F)

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

Shape the Breadsticks: Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to a rectangle about ¼ inch thick. Cut the dough into strips of approximately 1 inch wide. Twist each strip a few times and place them on a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Prepare Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, dried oregano, and Italian seasoning. Stir well to combine.

Brush and Bake: Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the twisted breadsticks. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and brush with any remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and, if desired, grated Parmesan cheese. Serve hot and enjoy!
