1/2 pound ground pork

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

For the Garlic Bread:

1 loaf French or Italian bread

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (thyme, oregano, rosemary)

Salt to taste

For the Bake:

2 cups marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Make the Meatballs: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and fresh parsley. Mix until well combined, then roll the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.

Bake the Meatballs: Arrange the meatballs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Prepare the Garlic Bread: While the meatballs bake, prepare the garlic bread. Cut the loaf in half lengthwise. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, fresh parsley, Italian herbs, and salt until well combined. Spread the mixture generously over the cut sides of the bread.

Bake the Garlic Bread: Place the garlic bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

Assemble the Bake: In a large baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Once the meatballs are done, gently place them on top of the marinara sauce. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.

Final Bake: Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Serve: Slice the garlic bread into pieces and serve alongside the meatball bake. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
