Ingredients

2 cups cooked macaroni (about 1 cup uncooked)

1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 egg

½ cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred for crunch)

¼ cup sour cream

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking spray

Instructions

Prepare the Mac & Cheese: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with shredded sharp cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, sour cream, and the seasonings (garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper). Mix until all the macaroni is well-coated with the cheesy mixture.

Add the Egg: Crack an egg into the mixture and stir thoroughly to combine. The egg will help bind the ingredients together.

Chill the Mixture: Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the mixture firm up, making it easier to form the balls.

Form the Balls: Once chilled, take approximately 1 tablespoon of the mac and cheese mixture and roll it into a ball. Repeat this process until all the mixture is used up, yielding about 12-15 balls.

Coat the Balls: Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Roll each mac and cheese ball in the breadcrumbs until they are fully coated. For extra crunch, you can double dip them (roll in egg and then breadcrumbs).

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

Spray & Cook: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Arrange the mac and cheese balls in a single layer, making sure they aren’t overcrowded. Spray the tops of the balls lightly with cooking spray to help them crisp up.

Air Fry: Cook the balls for about 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

Serve: Once cooked, remove from the air fryer and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as marinara or ranch dressing.
