1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

4 oz sliced ham (preferably high-quality, like honey or Black Forest)

4 oz sliced cheese (Swiss or cheddar work perfectly)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

1 egg (for egg wash)

Sesame seeds (for garnish, optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley or chives (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Dough: Open the package of crescent roll dough and carefully unroll it on a clean surface. Seal any perforations to create a single sheet of dough.

      Cut the Dough: Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough into triangles, following the perforated lines. You should have 8 triangles.

        Add Condiments: If desired, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each triangle for added flavor.

          Layer the Filling: Place a slice of ham on each triangle, followed by a slice of cheese. Optional: Sprinkle a pinch of salt and pepper over the cheese for extra seasoning.

            Rolled to Perfection: Starting from the wide end of each triangle, roll the dough tightly towards the point to form a crescent shape.

              Prepare for Baking: Place the rolled croissants on the prepared baking sheet, pointing the tips down to prevent them from unraveling. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the tops of the croissants. This will give them a beautiful golden color when baked. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds on top.

                Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and puffed.

                  Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired, then serve warm.
