Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 cup uncooked jasmine or basmati rice

2 cups beef broth

2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Brown the Beef: In a large skillet or pan over medium heat, add olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.

Add Rice and Broth: Once the beef is fully cooked, stir in the uncooked rice, making sure it’s well combined with the beef. Pour in the beef broth, ensuring the rice is submerged. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

Incorporate Broccoli: Once it reaches a simmer, add the broccoli florets on top of the rice and beef mixture (do not stir). Cover the skillet with a tight-fitting lid and reduce the heat to low. Cook for about 15-18 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid has been absorbed.

Mix in Cheese: After the cooking time is up, remove the lid and gently fold the broccoli into the rice and beef mixture. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it melts and combines well. Add more cheese on top if desired, cover, and let it melt for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serve: Once everything is combined and cheesy, taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley for an added touch of color and flavor.
