Ingredients

1 pre-made pie crust or tart shell

3 ripe firm pears, peeled, cored, and sliced thinly

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For the Maple Mascarpone:

1 cup mascarpone cheese

2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Tart Shell: If using a homemade pie crust, roll it out and fit it into a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and place it in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the filling.

Sauté the Pears: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced pears, brown sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the pears are just tender but still hold their shape. If using walnuts, stir them in for the last minute of cooking, then remove from heat.

Assemble the Tart: Remove your chilled tart shell from the refrigerator. Carefully arrange the sautéed pears on top of the tart shell, spreading them out evenly.

Bake the Tart: Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the pears are caramelized.

Make the Maple Mascarpone: While the tart is baking, prepare the maple mascarpone. In a bowl, mix together the mascarpone cheese, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt until smooth and creamy. Adjust sweetness to taste.

Cool and Serve: Once the tart is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Slice the tart and serve warm or at room temperature with a generous dollop of maple mascarpone on top.

Enjoy: Pair with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a sprinkle of toasted walnuts for extra texture if desired!
