1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

4 oz. sliced ham (preferably thin)

4 oz. shredded cheese (Gruyère or cheddar works well)

1 egg (beaten for egg wash)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon dried thyme (or Italian seasoning)

Salt and pepper to taste

Flour for dusting

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smoothen it out and remove any creases. Cut the sheet into 12 equal rectangles (about 3x5 inches each).

      Season the Ham and Cheese: In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced ham with garlic powder, dried thyme, a pinch of salt, and pepper to taste.

        Assembly: On one half of each pastry rectangle, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard, then place a slice of ham followed by a handful of shredded cheese. Fold the pastry over to cover the filling, pressing the edges to seal it.

          Create the Twists: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each filled rectangle into two strips. Twist each strip gently about three times and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
