Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain

3 cups broccoli florets

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece of ginger, grated

4 tablespoons soy sauce (reduced sodium recommended)

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or sesame oil)

1 tablespoon rice vinegar

1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or brown sugar), and cornstarch. Stir until well combined and set aside.

Marinate the Beef: In a separate bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with half of the prepared sauce. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a pot of boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Quickly transfer them to an ice bath to stop the cooking, then drain.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.

Cook the Veggies: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2 minutes until fragrant and the pepper starts to soften.

Combine Ingredients: Return the beef to the skillet along with the blanched broccoli. Pour the remaining sauce over the mixture. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are coated in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

Serve: Once ready, remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
