Ingredients

For the Apple Filling:

4 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

For the Salted Caramel:

1 cup granulated sugar

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into cubes

1/2 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon sea salt (plus extra for garnish)

For the Crumble Topping:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Prepare the Apple Filling:

      - In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour until all apples are well coated. Set aside.

        Make the Salted Caramel:

          - In a medium saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until it melts into a thick, amber-colored liquid.

            - Once melted, carefully add the cubed butter and stir until melted and combined.

              - Slowly pour in the heavy cream, continuing to stir until smooth. Allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat. Stir in sea salt. Let cool slightly.

                Prepare the Crumble Topping:

                  - In another bowl, combine flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and mix until crumbly. If using pecans, fold them into the mixture.

                    Assemble the Crumble:

                      - Spread the apple filling evenly in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

                        - Drizzle half of the salted caramel over the apple filling.

                          - Evenly distribute the crumble topping over the apples.

                            - Drizzle the remaining salted caramel on top of the crumble.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crumble is golden brown.

Serve: Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with any additional salted caramel and sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt if desired.

Enjoy: Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly decadent dessert!
