Ingredients

1 pound ground turkey

1 cup fresh spinach, chopped

1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled

1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

1 egg, lightly beaten

1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for texture)

4 whole wheat burger buns

Lettuce leaves, for serving

Sliced tomatoes, for serving

Tzatziki sauce or Greek yogurt, for topping

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, red onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), beaten egg, and breadcrumbs (if using). Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Chill the Patties: Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (this helps them hold their shape while cooking).

Cook the Burgers: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or the skillet if necessary. Cook the turkey patties for about 5-6 minutes on one side until browned, then flip and cook for another 5-6 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Toast the Buns: While the patties are cooking, you can toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Once the patties are cooked through, place each patty on the bottom half of a toasted bun. Top with lettuce, a slice of tomato, and a generous dollop of tzatziki sauce or Greek yogurt. Finish with the top half of the bun.

Serve and Enjoy: Serve your delicious spinach feta turkey burgers with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad, and enjoy!
